Northern Starter
A ranger-led walking safari below Mount Meru, the elephant herds of Tarangire and a full crater descent, the fastest way to see three different Tanzanias.
Two days, two of the north's biggest hitters: the elephant herds and baobabs of Tarangire, then a full descent into the Ngorongoro Crater.
Arusha · Tarangire · Ngorongoro Crater
Your guide meets you in Arusha after breakfast with a short briefing and a packed hot lunch, then drives two to three hours to Tarangire. The park is famous for its elephants, its river and its baobabs; you spend the whole afternoon tracking herds between the acacias before driving up to Karatu for dinner.
Eileen's Trees Inn, Karatu·Full board
An early start gets you to the conservation gate before the day-trippers. You descend into the caldera for a full morning among lion, buffalo, hippo and one of the last easily seen black rhino populations, eat lunch beside the Ngoitoktok hippo pool, then climb out and drive back to Arusha for your onward flight or hotel.
